Overview
This job aid is for instructional designers and eLearning professionals that want to adopt a more iterative approach to their work methodology. Its aim is to facilitate the development of learning experiences through the Llama methodology, which can help improve flexibility and adaptability in the instructional design process.
The Problem
The Llama Methodology for Instructional design helps to ensure consistent improvement and revision of the courses and adds flexibility and adaptability to the instructional design methodologies. However, some instructional designers are unfamiliar with this methodology.
The Solution
Creating an infographic and job aid that introduces the Llama approach to instructional designers, and helps them understand how they can try this methodology to have a flexible and iterative approach to instructional design, allowing for continuous improvement and adaptation as instructional needs evolve.
The Process
Research
The Llama methodology, which stands for Lot Like Agile Management Approach, is an instructional design framework that adopts an Agile approach to the design process. It emphasizes adaptability, flexibility, and continuous improvement in response to changing needs and circumstances. It's a methodology that I personally use and has given me great results during my years working in Edtech.
Before starting with the design, I identified the key aspects of the Llama Methodology for Instructional Design that I want to highlight in the infographic. This includes the definition, the main steps involved in the methodology, and tips or benefits of using it.
Wireframe
I then create a rough sketch or wireframe of the infographic using Google Workplace, mapping out the key points I want to include and how they will be visualized. This involved deciding on the color scheme, typography, and overall design aesthetic.
Design
I selected Canva as the appropriate tool to create the infographic since it allows me to create and share visually appealing images and text easily and faster, and on multiple devices and platforms. Using the selected tool, I began designing the infographic, adding visual elements, and arranging them in a logical and visually appealing way. I included simple illustrations of the methodology's steps that are easy to understand, as well as icons to visually represent the key principles and a simple llama illustration to add visual value.
Once the infographic was complete, I reviewed it carefully to ensure that it effectively communicates the key points about the Llama Methodology for Instructional Design. I also presented the infographic to fellow instructional design colleagues, which were very pleased with the overall result. Finally, I made small adjustments and edits to improve the overall quality, like adjusting the font size and spaces between the elements, before publishing the finished work.
Job Aid
I also created a downloadable job aid to help Instructional Designers perform their Llama projects more effectively.
Key Takeaways
Overall, the process of creating an infographic about the Llama Methodology for Instructional Design requires careful planning, research, and design skills. By following clear steps, I created a visually appealing and informative infographic that effectively communicates the key principles and benefits of this methodology to their target audience.
